Dr Rowena Bull is an Associate Professor at The Kirby Institute, University of New South Wales, Australia. She completed a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology in 2007 in the Faculty of Science, UNSW.

Over the last decade her research program has focused on understanding the pathogenesis of selected RNA viruses with local and global high health burden, by developing and applying cutting edge genomic methods to generate clinically relevant research outcomes. Her group has recently been applying next generation sequencing to full-length HCV genomes in clinical samples to study within-host and also population-based evolution.

Her work on HCV transmission within high-risk populations has informed the basis of treatment models and also been used to characterise the HCV epidemic globally.
